Bill and Colleen Hensley of Hensley Properties: Bringing Dreams to Life

“When you have passion about something it’s really easy to transfer those skills,” says Colleen Hensley of Hensley Properties. “The skill sets we developed while working in our previous capacities have transferred over nicely to our current venture.”
Hensley Properties is a residential real estate company that is focused on client satisfaction and success. Owners, Bill and Colleen Hensley define success as bringing dreams to life.
The husband and wife team, who met in the U.S. Air Force, both flew high performance jets. Their careers remained in aviation when they moved to the Southern California area in 1988 but took an interesting turn in the early 90’s.
“We were always interested in real estate,” remarks Bill. “We were ready to work for ourselves and knew that we would do well. There is an adage that goes something like: The best prediction of future success is the past. Both Colleen and I are extremely meticulous, highly attentive to detail and very passionate. We simply applied those qualities to beginning this company and continue to develop them.”
Both Colleen and Bill agree they do not want to do ‘just OK’ in anything they undertake. If they are going to begin a project, or company in this instance, they are going to excel. True to their word and drive for success, Hensley Properties has become a stellar company to watch since it’s inception in 2004.
Through creative marketing techniques, extensive networking opportunities and myriads of contacts – locally and nationwide – the Hensley’s have been able to develop their real estate business into a thriving company.
“I don’t feel our work is just about Hensley Properties. I’m of the firm belief that if we ‘share the wealth’ so to speak, everyone profits,” Colleen says of the company’s work ethics. She also says that by helping other businesses, whether they’re in the same industry or not; giving back to the community and being a resource for professionals it’s almost impossible to not be successful.
“Some people look at success from a me-oriented point of view,” comments Bill, “but I think it’s more important to create synergy with other organizations. It’s not competition if you’re all after the same goal. When you approach business that way it’s called working together.”
Hensley Properties does quite a lot of giving back to the community. They were a paying sponsor for the Accenture World Golf Championships held at the La Costa Resort and Spa this past February and the year prior; they founded Hensley Properties Local Partner Network – a business networking association; they sponsor a local school newspaper and have partnered with Ultra Star Theatres to present Parent Movie Morning. Colleen attends the Movie Mornings regularly to offer hands on assistance, support and to greet guests who participate in the program.
The Hensleys give back to the community, not because they have to but because they want to build up their ‘home’. “We’ve been all over the world and have found this area to be the most desirable living destination. It has such a rich entrepreneurial spirit and has the perfect balance of luxury and moderate living, business and education plus so much more,” says Bill.
So, what’s on the horizon? The company, which is currently involved in real estate private equity funds, would also like to partner with 10 to 12 likeminded agents who are also very keen on being involved in helping clients find investment properties and grow the company.
“We would like to grow vertically providing a variety of distinct services,” says Colleen.
